About Ash Wellness

Ash Wellness is paving the way for more inclusive and accessible healthcare by enabling and managing at-home diagnostics for the healthcare community. Founded by a largely queer team to address barriers to healthcare, Ash Wellness has created a versatile solution that supports health systems, public health institutions, universities, pharmaceuticals, payers, wellness companies and more. Ash Wellness partners have access to a CLIA/CAP certified lab network in all 50 states, white-label branding capabilities, and 100+ different at-home diagnostic tests.

The Role:

As we work to grow and deliver on our mission, we’re looking for a Technical Lead who is as excited about making healthcare more inclusive and accessible as we are.

As a technical lead you will hold an important leadership role on an engineering team, shaping the development of our platform and our team. You will bring domain expertise to the room and be a key voice in the design and planning of Ash's technology architecture.


  • Inform and lead the development/release of new features and improvements
  • Develop and codify team best practices
  • Bring engineering leadership to a scrum team
  • Provide mentorship, guidance and oversight to engineers on your team

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years experience building and scaling APIs and Web Applications using Python (Javascript is a major plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and experience coordinating a scrum team
  • Strong experience designing both SQL and No-SQL style databases
  • A strong understanding of design considerations for the development of RESTful apis
  • Work with a strong emphasis on continuous integration and testing
  • Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining micro service-oriented architectures
  • Experience building healthcare applications and interfacing with healthcare entities
  • Fluency with Docker/Kubernetes

Nice to Haves:

  • Background in health-tech or health system engineering
  • Experience with electronic health record systems
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Understanding of healthcare billing infrastructure
  • Familiarity with HIPAA/PHI best practices
